Ukrainian Club established at the United Nations in Vienna

The newly established Vienna International Centre Ukrainian Club at the United Nations in Vienna organized the Ukrainian cultural performance on the sidelines of the global event "Bridge for Cities - Belt and Road Initiative: Developing Green Economies for Cities"It was the first initiative supported by the newly established Ukrainian Club at the UN in Vienna.

The VIC Ukrainian Club is the unique platform which connects ethnic Ukrainians and citizens of Ukraine who work in the Vienna based UN organizations.

In his opening remarks, Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the International Organizations in Vienna Ihor Prokopchuk welcomed the establishment of the club that promotes Ukraine and its culture, art, science, music, literature, sports etc. within the international community at Vienna and emphasized the critical role of cultural diplomacy in raising awareness on modern Ukraine and Ukrainians.

The diplomatic community and participants of the event enjoyed the Ukrainian songs by Zoryana Kushpler, Ukrainian mezzo soprano, soloist at the Vienna State Opera, Winner of the all-Ukrainian award “Person of the Year 2016”, accompanied by young pianist Dmytro Klymenko, winner of numerous international competitions. Ukrainian dancers Nadiya and Kostyantyn Panchenko, Champions of Austria in 2016, Finalists and Prize Winners of All-Ukrainian and International Competitions performed a classic waltz.

The event, organized by United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and Finance Center for South-South Cooperation (FCSSC), is an annual large-scale initiative aimed at advancing the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the New Urban Agenda. The event promotes the implementation of SDGs via the Belt and Road Initiative to encourage municipal officials and development stakeholders to scale up their engagement in inclusive and sustainable urban-industrial development initiatives.
